One of the best things ever is using a crock pot for cooking. Like really, I mean EVER. All you need is 5-10 minutes of preparation, and well, another 12 hours of cook time. So of course if you are starving, breaking out your crock pot to make something in a pinch ain’t gonna work out in your favor. But for regular, planned meals, it’s game on.
2 navel oranges, sliced
1 handful of garlic cloves, peeled, whole
A LOT of crushed red pepper
½ cup honey
¼ cup water (you don’t need much additional liquid because the juice from the oranges, honey and meat fat create a pretty nice little saucy sauce)
I didn’t add salt but if you are a fan of NaCl, you can (I rarely salt when cooking, sometimes I add it afterwards to taste)
Add it all to the crock pot, cook on low for 12 hours.
Slice and serve! It’s great with a side of cauliflower rice (not pictured here)!
You’ll get about 4 servings out of this quantity. Well I did, but it depends on how big you like your portions.
